The Alps - Le Voyage (2010) - Type Records

Dopo il bellissimo e trasognante esordio "III" del 2008 gli Alps ritornano con un nuovo "viaggio" all'insegna dello psych-folk, rock, krautdelica ed elettronica. Rispetto al primo album, però, c'è meno voglia di osare ma il risultato è alquanto soddisfacente. I brani sono un pò più limati ma sempre caratterizzati da quel guizzo sperimentale revisionista che tanto mi fa pensare ai boschi di big sur in california e al suo sole redentore. Il lavoro si contraddistingue tra pezzi classicamente composti e arrangiati (Drop In, Crossing The Sands, St.Laurent, Saturno Contro, Black Mountain, Le Voyage e Telepathe) ed altri che sono dei bellissimi affreschi di psichedelia elettronica e musica concreta (Marzipan, Petals, The Lemon Tree). Le influenze sono ben chiare e attingono sagacemente al meglio da molto materiale di quarant'anni fa, più o meno. Parliamo dei Pink Floyd più bucolici, i Popol Vuh, il rock intrinso di sitar e come se non bastasse tutta quella scena anni settanta (krautrock) che rivoluzionò la germania e gran parte del mondo del rock. I musici potevano spingere un pò più la mano ma se si vuole in una sera di questa bella stagione vagare per il cosmo e per i paesaggi californiani, quest'album fa proprio al caso nostro.
